Chapter 1 is the first week of the Academy, exactly as enrolled learners get it: what enterprise software actually is, how a business runs on it, and your first session on a real UniVerse system. No programming background. No card.
These are Weeks 1–3 of Module 1, Technology Foundations. Enrolled learners do the same reading, the same labs, and the same portfolio pieces.
What happens to a distributor when its order system goes down for a day. Why these systems were built the way they were, and why they are still running. Your first login and your first query.
Files, records, screens, reports, and the people who depend on each. You trace one customer order through a real wholesale bookstore database from entry to invoice.
UniVerse, UniData, D3, and the Rocket Software family. Where the developers are, where the jobs are, and what the Academy's 52 weeks build toward.
The Academy is a 52-week commitment with a cohort, a mentor, and a milestone panel at the end of every level. It is the right program for some people and the wrong one for others. Three free chapters is how we let you decide with real evidence instead of a brochure.
If it feels right, the application takes about ten minutes and every applicant gets a 20-minute call with Bill Ellis, the Program Coordinator. If it doesn't, you'll still know more about how businesses run on software than most people ever learn.
"It is not raw intelligence or prior programming experience. It is understanding the business context, respecting the architecture that has kept these systems running for decades, and having the professional discipline to change things carefully."
